Lot 4040 SCARCE CONFEDERATE BLOCKADE RUN "ANCHOR S" 1863

DATED 1856 ENFIELD CARBINE. Cal. 577. NSN. This is a superior example of Confederate carbine. Standard configuration 36.5" overall, 21" Birmingham 25 gauge proofed barrel, adjustable rear sight, 2 barrel bands, captured loading assembly, saddle ring bar. Crisp double "anchor S" stamps on comb below buttplate tang, "H.C" inspection mark opposite lock, stock maker and other proofs stamped on belly of buttstock. Tagged as souvenir by Brattleboro, Vermont student Frank Fisher in 1881. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copy of pertinent page from the "THE ENGLISH CONNECTION" by Russ Pritchard & Corky Huey, showing "anchor S" marking. CONDITION: very good overall, "as found" complete & original, dark iron & brass patinas, sound stock, good makings throughout. Mechanics fine, good rifled bore.
